Mine are the same way and I never noticed it til they were already on. I looked rather carefully at the stock ones and there is no sign what-so-ever of a weld or dimple in the area where the chrome ones have theirs at. I was rather disappointed as well but like you and may other have already said, there nothing Triumph will do about it.
