WOW! What a thing I started. I was just saying how happy I am
to be back riding after sitting out vacation time due to bike repair.
How about this experiment? Easy to do. Ride your bike behind a friend in their car.
Ask them if they can hear you. Worth a shot?
One thing I've noticed about sirens, it seems to be hard to tell
from which direction they're coming. Maybe the way the sound
dopplers up and down.
I think alot of cagers hear the sirens, and don't care, just ignore it.
Or else think they can stay out of the firetruck/ambulance's way
without slowing down.

Dwight, my favorite curmudgeon, I'm sure LA has much more traffic than FtL.
But that's really not the point, is it? Even on an 8 lane freeway,
you're really only dealing with maybe 50,60 other vehicles at a time.
The other ones are either too far in front/behind to affect you, or they're on another road all together.
Oh, they can cause a traffic jam and inconvenience you, but they won't hit you.
If your bikes have been a 5/6 on the sound scale, that's still
more than the 2/3 of a stock bike. And I have had plenty of bikes
with stock mufflers. Many times, when Joe Cager did something STUPID,
I pulled in the clutch and winged the engine
instead of hitting the typically anemic stock horn.

Anyway, we don't need to take potshots at each other, do we?
But a little good natured ribbing is fun.
