That reminds me of something I noticed recently. I live just off Hwy 74A, about 4 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are always State Troopers camped along the route. I just drove about 3000 miles through Canada. I saw more cops patrolling the 4 miles between my cabin and the Parkway than the length of Canada. While it would seem obvious that, without such protection, the roads would be like a scene from Mad Max, strangely enough I also saw far fewer accidents or traffic infractions.
