As I've mentioned many tmes, I have friends who drive emergency vehicles (cops, EMTs, fire fighters) they all have the same observation: People don't see them with flashing lights (lots of lights on Vegas emergency vehicles), and they don't hear the sirens. They won't see you or hear your pipes either.

Well Bill, you make some interesting points.
It's a shame you're dead wrong.
I've seen it, two days in a row.
First day, stock mufflers, cut off right and left, I'm invisible.
Second day, shorties, they stay put in their lanes.
Several actually start to move into my lane, then swerve back.
It was a 45 minute commute, heavy city traffic, lots of stop & go.
It happened. Not makin' it up. Saw it with my own eyes.
And if you'll note, I said they help keep me safe.
I just passed a milestone, 40 years riding. I know the real things
keeping me safe are vigilance, experience, with a healthy
dose of paranoia thrown in. Anyone care to try it? Compare
the actions of the traffic around you, back-to-back, stock
mufflers to aftermarket. They don't act the same.
Still a bunch of morons,
but better.
