Yesterday, I got a nice letter from Triumph telling me that my dealer where I bought my 2009 America new was no longer a Triumph dealer. I am convinced the motorcycle market has been tough since 2007. I know he hadn't had any new Triumphs on the floor for some time. I have heard good and bad about Colonial Cyclesports, but was disappointed with the news nonetheless.
The heartening part is that Triumph takes my satisfaction seriously enough to send a letter. Perhaps that is common for manufacturers when a dealer leaves the network, but I would be surprised if it is.
Any one else lose their dealer recently?

I did! Damn it sucks!
(actually, I just tossed out my old phone book with his number in it. But that was the ONLY way I knew to get in touch with him. Hope I see him at Walmart, or someplace, SOON!)
And you may see me tonight

No, but I know my dealer is doing it tough. I think their Service Department is the only thing keeping them going. No one is buying new bikes much. That is a problem when you sell bikes that are so damn good that they don't need updating.

THEY ARE INCREASING THE OVERSEAS SHARES. My local indie bike place is hanging on by threads also. He also started doing ATV service and some small engine stuff. he is always loaded with ATV's.
Heard a rumor that he is about to close though. Him an his mech wont touch a new Triumph. Few yrs ago they tried to work a Speed Tripple, they messed it up and they had to send it to euro sport Ft. Worth to get fixed. So he wont do much more than change your tires if its a trump.

Triumph has a 16% US share. Harley has 54%, I believe (Harley owners' motto, "Baaaa"). Sixteen percent is pretty impressive when only 46% is available.

Geeez Ron! Haven't you been keepin' up with this thread here???!!!
That would be 16% of total T-SHIRT SALES in the U.S.!!!!
(...at least I THINK that's what they're talkin' about here now anyway!)

The Little Rock dealer closed his doors about a year and a half ago. Luckily, one of the employees opened up his own independent shop.
Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.

Well, I proudly wear my Triumph Steve McQueen T-shirt and my HD prescription glasses! I only got the glasses because they were cheap and I could scratch the HD logo off with my thumbnail...man, that's quality!

Well, Dwight, I am not even sure about the T-shirt sales.
Thinking on that, I never see a person out and about with a Triumph shirt.

I occasionally spot a guy sportin' one along Whiskey Row, and when I was still in SoCal I'd see a few guys at the Rock Store wearin' 'em, and also of course at some of the vintage motorcycle meets in SoCal which I'd attend. But yeah, you're right. For the most part it's a rare occurrence to run into someone wearin' one. Saaaaay, maybe it's 'cause the guys who own a Triumph T-Shirt are in a hurry to go about there business out there, and so they don't wear 'em anymore 'cause they know whenever they do they'll always be delayed by some geezer who'll spot it and will wanna talk their ear off about their old Bonneville they had before they: (a) Went off to Vietnam (b) Got married and the wife said 'no more motorcycles 'til the kids have moved out' (c) Lost everything because of a severe drug/alcohol problem back in the '60s/'70s/'80s (d) All of the above (...just a theory!)

See, that's what happens when you let people with business degrees run things. There are no Triumph dealers in this area, but the local dealer of some imported car lost his franchise because there are too few people in this area buying them. So, maybe they were selling 10 - 15 cars a month, that's 10 - 15 more than are being sold now. I can see where a company could lose 20% or more in total sales by cutting off the lower performing dealers. Maybe they think people are willing to travel 200 miles to buy from their 'high performance' dealers, but a lot of people are smart enough to buy something else locally to avoid driving all day to get their vehicle serviced.
Let's hope there's intelligent life somewhere in space 'cause it's buggar all down here. -- Monte Python

We lost the two dealers in Orlando a couple years ago..."Cycle Riders of Longwood", and "Cycle Riders of Orlando", both were Triumph dealers, and I bought my 2003 Speedmaster at the Longwood store. Not very good at service, but it was still nice to have a local Triumph dealer 10 miles away. The stores were bought out by "RideNow Powersports", which also went out of business.
Looks like BMW of Daytona now carries Triumph...

When I win the big lottery, I'm opening one on I-40 here and wont care if I sell a bike,,,,we'll have cool bikes about, the local Hooters girls will want to work there (because its so totally awesome) and we'll serve awesome coffee and Dominican cigars with an on staff cigar roller....we wont sell the bikes because everyone will be to busy "test"riding them and we'll buy Rocket III's for all the local police departments so they will never give us another speeding ticket....and..........

A funny thing came in the mail today. Colonial Cyclesports now "strives to accommodate me as a Triumph parts and service specialty retailer". Further, they will offer "an even higher level of service on (my) Triumph motorcycle. Weird. I dunno what to think.

I'd move back to sasnakrA for that.
