ok,so now i have a similar problem. Battery charged, lights and horn etc work fine but I just get a single click when I hit the starter. The click is coming from under the right side of the tank(sitting on the bike). Sound like the starter relay? How do i bypass it to verify?

You can jump across the two posts on the solenoid (under the right side cover) to activate the starter; this will tell you if the solenoid is faulty. It's going to spark when you do that, don't jump too much :-) It could also be the starter/headlight cut out relay located on the right side of the backbone under the tank...there's no bypassing this, you'll have to replace the relay. Can't know without being there to lsiten as both clicks come from the right side of the bike.

I've recently learned that a $6 stock 4 pin 30 amp auto relay will work as a diagnosis tool (but the headlight is inoperative) to eliminate the relay as fault source. That 5 pin Hella relay wasn't readily available at my local parts store...
