If your battery is reading 12.4 volts rested then it is flat (less than 60% charged) and needs recharging. It should show at least 12.8 volts rested after charging or riding. Lead acid batteries don't like going under about 70% charge (12.5 volts) and will quickly die if they do. They also don't like going that low and being recharged more than a few times. This includes our OEM Yuasa AGM or VRLA batteries.
