If I can get my F-ing signals figured out I'm in. Right now my handlebars aren't even on My goal is to get it ridable by the end of the weekend.

Signals? You don't need no stinking signals. Use hand signals! Maybe I can help you with your electrical problems, and you can show me how to adjust my carbs, change jets, etc. I got the service manual, and know my way around both ends of a wrench. Charlie

Looking forward to it as well. I just ordered a new lamp for my silver bullet signals. I may even have a new windshield for the trip if I can ever figure out which one to buy.

If all goes as planned, I should also be a newly licensed rider for the trip. This weekend is weekend 1 of a 2 weekend MSP course I'm taking in PA.

Yeah I think I'm good to go. Got my new (same style) bars on, re-done wiring (heat shrink instead of tape), re-routed throttle cables, new clutch cable... what else Gotta aim my driving lights, toss the tank back on, and I think I'm good to go!

don't worry, i am not dropping the ball. my work schedule has been nuts. i don't think i will be able to get the day off and i will try to get someone to swap a train with me. otherwise i won't be back in new haven until noon. though i will try for 11. i am also trying to work my way to a weekend off assignment.

so depending on what time benny and mark come over from LI i thought you and Matt, Mike and and maybe Bradley from Stratford could meet those guys at the ferry, ride up to New Haven, pick me up do Apizza then confer on either a shoreline ride or a litchfield ride or a Ct river ride. I have a cool map w/routes marked out and i have a few of my own in mind.

this could give anyone coming from the east or north time to get to New Haven for lunch.

I will really try to swing my schedule around. but i am not in a position at this time of the year to take a day without pay or blow a sick day.

We should pm with phone numbers as the days get close.

mert

Sounds like a plan. Don't jepordize your job for us!! If you guys don't want to ride into the ferry dock, we can pick an easy place near there to meet too. No biggie. Mark and I will decide on a ferry time soon.

We can meet in front of the train station. It's right down the street. We can then head up towards Shari and stop for breakfast. Thn get a couple of cases of beer and hang out on Sharis front lawn and drink til she gets home!

Haha. Well it'll probly be at least 10 or 10:30, so maybe we should just take the long way to lunch!

Cool, well there's a 9am ferry. That means we would need to leave that meeting spot BY 8:30 to repliably make it on time. Saturday morning, traffic should be nothin, and they usually let us just roll on, but still, want to be sure. The good thing about that ferry is you buy the tickets once on board, so you don't need to plan that extra time. That has us landing at 10:15. I have Matt's number, so if we miss the boat, I can call him. Think that time works Mark? I know it's early... If not, we'll do the 10AM boat, landing at 11:15.

PM sent. By the way, you'll notice that place is about a hundred yards from the LIE, the ONLY thing between the LIE and the parking lot is a Hess station.

Whatever time you want to come over is fine. It's only about a 20 min ride up to New Haven.

Now this is starting to take shape! I'll be at the ferry dock, or the station, around 10. You'll recognise me, I'll be riding my Triumph. If Mert has to work until 11 or 12, we could take the long way around to NH. Maybe go up 8/25 to the Parkway, and take rt 34 into NH.
Benny, I'll PM you with my cell #. It would be pretty cool if we could get a dozen TBA/SM's together for this ride, I've never ridden with another one. Charlie

Matt,
We would not want you to ruin your whole day that way, perhaps you could wear a pink carnation.
Mike
some day I'll figure out how to put those little yellow smiley faces on here.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I leave the dock access road and then basically bear right out of there, I'll find the train station, right? By the way, the other way to get smileys is to eithe A: know the code for them, or 2: hit "reply" next to the person's name instead of using the quick reply at the bottom. That also shows you replying to that specific person.

I'm not familiar with the area but it looks on the map like you follow the ferry access road to right turn on Lafayette st. to right turn on water st. and train station is on water st.Looks like all within 1/2 mile.

I'm gonna shoot for getting to Bpt. early, so I can scope it out. I want to try to remember to bring my dig. cam. so I can document the event, starting with the ferry coming in, and Benny and Mark riding off. Charlie

Sounds good. There's a little parking lot right before the ferry building that you can pull into and wait for us. From there you can walk up to the porch and get a shot of the boat. We'll pull in and grab you and then ride out.

Yessa. See you guys then. Might want to get there a few minutes early... I've known the ferry to arrive a bit early and the bikes to unload first... sometimes last?!
