Hey all!

So something has been bugging me with my kickstand and I don't know if I'm being paranoid about it.

There's a certain amount of give to my kickstand when I let the weight of the bike on it. So I'll kick the kickstand down, start leaning the bike over, and once the kickstand touches and slides to a stop the bike then leans at the pivot point of the stand a bit. I hope that makes sense.

I already tried cinching the kickstand down but that didn't do anything but reduce the ease of travel to kick it down.

I'm just afraid I'm going to walk out to my garage one morning and my bike is gonna be laying on her side because the bolt sheared off or something.

Make sure the bolt that acts as the pivot is tight, mine works its self loose. Even with the bolt tight they do lean over a fair amount,I felt the same way about mine.

How many kicks do you have on that stand and what about the idea of replacing the bolt? Preventative medicine... the best kind!

Well Keith... after reading your post I looked over at Bike Bandit and it looks like it'll only cost me ~$10 to swap the bolt and lock nut out. I'm all about preventative maintenance and swapping out parts long before their dead to prevent them from dying unexpectedly. (That's where the wife gets angry. "Your's is fine! Why do you need to go buy another one! Mumble...mumble...mumble..." she says. )

It sounds like from Bill though that there is a bit of "pivot" on that bolt. If the bolt is a failure point that is supposed to be swapped out every so often, I'm definitely going to heed your advice but I just want to make sure that if I swap it and it keeps a bit of "pivot" or "wobble" that I'm still in good shape.

Remember, I got this off a guy that got it off a guy kind of a thing. I baby my things and I can only assume the guys before me cherished my beloved bike but there's no tellin'. So I'm going through practically every little thing to make sure she keeps on going for the next 10+ years.
