Bob....on my first set of gutted stock pipes, I took out 3 baffles each side. Loved the sound in the city and it wasn't too loud on the highway. Then I knocked the the last baffle on each side out and ruined a good thing. Too loud for extended cruising on the highways. Next set of stock pipes, I went back to 3 sets of baffles out per side. Bought a new Nolan 43 helmet and the noise in town and out was directed right at my ears. Unbearable. Sold the Nolan and went back to my 3/4 HJC. Decided to add a 12" baffle with 1/2 of it wrapped with muffler pack. Very happy with the lower rumble for extended rides. I'd take 2 baffles out per side and see how you like the Triumph note. Wouldn't go past 3 out per side. Ian and others gave you the suggestions needed to complete the job. And you proceeded as I would have suggested to you. Happy riding.
