So is the Gunther saw truly lost? I was hoping to use it.

I can't remember who I shipped it to. I'm sure it's in a thread somewhere.

Hey Bob....if you're going to de-baffle your stock exhaust, you don't need the Gunther saw. I've gutted two sets of stock exhaust using home made tools. A bit of time and a few scraped knuckles. Email me if you want any info. Don

I have done a few sets too and all I use is an air hammer with an extension I made. If you do it carefully you don't leave any external marks and the inside looks clean too. This is what I use. I use just the angled chisel with the vein on top for the first baffle then I use the extension I made as needed.

If you have the slash cut pipes I can send you the one that I made, as long as I get it back.

Send me a PM with your address.

I should have said at the outset that the pipes that I want to work on are the stock long tapered mufflers and they are off an '07 America. I am presently running long TORs. But I have my original, never used pipes that I thought I would toy with to see if I could get some rumble out of the old girl. I think for now I'd like to preserve the tapered ends, I can always cut them off later if I wish.

I cut my long tapered pipes off to make long cannon pipes then debaffled them. Have to cut just after they start to taper. I would have to look again but I think I left about the first inch of the taper.

Good question though, a member made it and put it out there at no charge except shipping in good faith that it would be passed around and shared as needed.

After searching through the threads it seems like the last guy to touch it hasn't been heard from since last October. He posted that he had it and was looking to fwd it, but never followed through and was never heard from again.

Well I decided to go low tech, I hack sawed the the end of the pipe off cleaned it up with a file and knocked a couple of baffles out with a big hammer and a three foot length of re-bar. Got a late start the second muffler will have to wait till next weekend. What's the general consensus on how many baffles to take out? Looking for a survey here. I like the look by the way. Looks pretty much like a long cannon.

Bob....on my first set of gutted stock pipes, I took out 3 baffles each side. Loved the sound in the city and it wasn't too loud on the highway. Then I knocked the the last baffle on each side out and ruined a good thing. Too loud for extended cruising on the highways. Next set of stock pipes, I went back to 3 sets of baffles out per side. Bought a new Nolan 43 helmet and the noise in town and out was directed right at my ears. Unbearable. Sold the Nolan and went back to my 3/4 HJC. Decided to add a 12" baffle with 1/2 of it wrapped with muffler pack. Very happy with the lower rumble for extended rides. I'd take 2 baffles out per side and see how you like the Triumph note. Wouldn't go past 3 out per side. Ian and others gave you the suggestions needed to complete the job. And you proceeded as I would have suggested to you. Happy riding.

I gutted mine and love the sound, just left the reducer in the header end for some back pressure so I don't lose the bottom end torque. If you are not sure what you want I suggest knocking out one at a time and try them until you have what you want. Wendy's slash cut stock pipes are slightly louder than my cannons and now she has slash cut shorties on there that are thunderous!

Alright finished my debaffle today took three out per side, leaving one plus the catalytic converter. Like the look and LOVE the sound. Much more growly than my old TOR longs. Overall pretty easy to do, didn't cost me much ( seeing as I already had the stock pipes ) and a very satisfying project. Thanks for the input everyone. by the way for the second pipe I did grind a sharp blade tip on the end of my re-bar and it made it easier to remove the baffles.
