The "Maple leaf" glasses have seemed to stir up a hornets nest with the old hippies! So here's some new additions to the list of available filters. Keep in mind that I take pic's. of the glasses while the badges are just "sitting" on the filters. When someone decides they want one, that's when I permanently fasten everything together. So if any of you see a design (glass bowl) that you like, I can put it on ANY filter you like, not just the one in the pic's. Thought you may like to know that. The availability and types of designs are getting too large to keep posting in threads, so as soon as I can set up an ebay store, that will be the location to see everything available. Member prices will stay the same, EXCEPT FOR THAT DAMN "JIM BEAM" one! Indian: Another BSA: H/D Bar & Shield: POW/MIA: Peace, Erle

How big of an emblem or decal can you use? I've got some pins from Sturgis and elsewhere that might work good. Can you somehow heat them up and bend them around the glass?

John, there's the BIG problem! Decals, no problem. If it fits, use it. Now, for metal... I have to bend (radius) ALL of them! Some take it well. Others, well lets just say I've lost a few that didn't take to "tweaking" very well. The smaller, the better. The ones with paint and a "Fat" covering of clear, are a b1tch to bend. They crack and the paint flakes off. IF you can get it to bend, but notice some "Cracking" of the paint, no real problem, just clear coat over it, and the paint will stay. Others just go without an issue. Just put yourself in that youthful, don't give a sh1t frame of mind, AND GO FOR IT! (Hell, they ain't MY pins!) Here at Getto Shed, I get a pipe/socket about the same dia. of the glass I'm using, sandwich the pin between the socket and a rag, slip a muffler-to-header pipe spacer over the rag, and tighten it down with a radiator clamp over the spacer, and crank it down to make everything conform to the pipe/socket. And when you undo the clamp, remove the spacer and rag, and it's either "Voila", or "SH1T!"

By the way, that H/D Bar & Shield, Is PERFECT!
In the pic., it "looks" like the paint is chipped, but it's not, it's the light playing games. It has a chrome boarder all the way around it.

Rough dimensions of an emblem or decal that can be used. I have a DILLIGAF pin from Sturgis 2002 but I think it's too wide to fit on one side.

My small filters can have something up to 1 3/4" without having interference from the bowl holding bracket, 2 3/4" on the large ones. BUT... I've "bent" emblems 1 5/8" with no problems. (the H/D bar & shield, the "Triumph" logo) I've "tried" to bend one that was only 1 1/4" wide (a Confederate Flag), and the paint cracked all to he11, and chipped off. I bent a "Shovehead" emblem (only 1" wide) that went fine, yet another one broke in half! More luck then science! Go figure! Ps. The "Shot Glasses" don't present these problems.

I couldn't agree more, I guess?
Anyway, IF you have a emblem you want used, pm me a LARGE photo, with measurements, and I'll decide if you should send it to me, and see IF I can use it, or break it.
Better chances of fitting the shot glasses to a filter, at least there's NO CHANCE of breaking the shot glass!

Here you go Dan!

The pins you sent bent just fine, with my new and improved bending specialty tool!
If you like the filters that they are on in this pic (the two outside ones), their ready to go.
If you want them mounted on the type filter in the middle (with the BSA emblem), you will need to wait a bit. The guy's @ Underground Choppers bought all of those I had in stock. I expect to get more with in a month.
Let me know.
Peace,
Erle.

EXTRA, EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT IT!!! I wanted to let everyone know that a VERY rare occurrence has occurred. The planets have aligned once again, unbeknownst to scientists, and I have obtained the allusive A/C filter needed for the HIGHLY COVETED Jim Beam filter! This is the fourth one I've found in three years. This one is NOT "makeshift" in ANY way! It is a genuine 1940-50 A/C fuel filter, made in America, and will NEVER see a end to it's expected life span! Just clean and re-use. Filtering element is brass, and will NEVER wear out. As with all the others, it has been cleaned, wire brushed, threads chased, new gasket, and leak tested. Using MINE as testimony, I've NEVER touched it since I installed it three years ago. As far as I know, there are only three others in the world. Paul's (midnight7503) in Australia, Jim's (SDKimo) in California, and MINE, in Florida. I stand behind it with a lifetime guarantee! (assuming I'm still around) I think I've stated this before, but I have to ask $115 (plus actual shipping cost & insurance), for the Jim Beams only, due to their rarity. Anyway, I wish everyone here the BEST for the holidays, and IF your interested, please let me know. Peace, Erle.

Dan, Jim, GLAD you like them! Here's a peek at my newest addition! It's SQUARE GLASS !!! The metal, black tag in the pic's actually fastens to the top of the filter, it says: "GAS-O-CLEAN", B.F.Zimmerman MFG.Co., Haven, Conn., pat.JAN.25-1921. I tried it with the original Triumph Pat. tag and with my brass copy of the Triumph Pat. tag. I don't really like either one. I think their too big. Maybe I'll try just the orange & blue Triumph oval that's on my brass one, without the brass triangle. What to do, what to do!???

I have that pin on the right, along with an official Sturgis 2002 pin and a DILLIGAF Sturgis 2002 pin. If I have a 2002 version of the RAT pin on the left, I think I'd go with that. It looks like it bends better than the others.
I just checked. Looks like there wasn't a RAT pin in 2002 (I have the patch and sticker). Dang it. I have pins for RAT '03, '04 and '05. And I have a 2004 Ace Cafe pin, but I'm not sure the paint would survive the bending.

Hasso, PM sent.
John, With a little effort (and a steady hand) the paint can be touched up with modeling paints.
I did that with the Wheel & Wing one that went to a member here.

Also, some of the emblems LOOK like they didn't take to bending well, but actually, they were not of the best quality when purchased. The "bending" process had NO affect on them other than removing some paint. (SOME paint was missing, due to members sending me THEIR emblems that were used and a little beat up to begin with.)

These pins are really cool. I bet the wings could be bent fairly easy and there would be little potential damage to the eyeball. http://www.lowbrowcustoms.com/index.php?l=product_list&c=9

I'm assuming this one is a better size at 1.5" wide? I think this is the one I'd like to use. The others are more than 3" wide. http://www.lowbrowcustoms.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=772

The "wings" look pretty fat from the pic of the backside, but they would probably bend with no problem in my new "press". The eyeball itself I would try to scribe and grind to the profile needed, like I do with the vintage tank badges.
