Missing having a standard around for commuting since trading my T100. Thinking about a Kawasaki Versys (my wife is NOT thinking about it, yet)... didn't we have someone here who had one a while back? 650 Vertical twin, making 64 BHP. Thoughts?

Had a guy here a few years back that traded his burgundy Speedy/America (don't recall which) for one. Don't remember his name either, but he was meticulous about keeping his bike clean and loaded up with electronic doo-dads. He was real happy with his Versys.
I debated one for a while, but I think my next addition will be a WeeStrom.

I think it may have been Canyonwlf7. If I remember correctly, he went through several bikes in a short space of time, to include the Versys.

Steve, you're thinking of MackDaddy. And yup his stuff was always in perfect shape.

Thom there are plenty of Versys and VStrom advocates out there and they're just a passionate about them as we are about ours. Pretty good indicator that it's a good solid ride.

What has my attention (other than I like how it looks) is that once can pick up a new 2009 leftover for around 5K. Which is not a bad price at all.

Wow! Only $5K?! Now THAT'S a lot of mid-size adventure bike for the money, I'd say! (...and as far as I've heard, the Versys are a pretty competent and reliable machine!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Yup, that was him. I drew a blank on the name.

Yes...someone needs to slap you. The rice is spreading from your Voyager and starting to take over your life. Get to a Triumph Demo ride truck/dealer...to ride a couple of Tigers, quick before its too late.

Heck, if you miss your T-100 get yourself a Scrambler. Duh.

I had it's little cousin, the 650R, before getting my America.
They share the same engine, just the suspension is better on the Versys.
The engine is VERY light. A nice twin, very light and narrow bike. Fun to ride, easy to throw into corners, enough power for a 650cc. Will accelerate on par with the big 4's, if not faster out of the curve, but it will be caught and passed on the straights.
Changing the oil is to be experienced, as you might be thinking: "that's all it takes???"
My only gripe: nothing classic about it. Won't be remembered as anything, but it is still a well-balanced bike, and could really shine as a commuter.

Ended up picking up a very well cared for 82 Suzuki GS850G off craigslist this morning. Will start a new thread.
