Lord I was born a Scramblin' man. (Apologies to Dickey Betts)

Been a while I guess, but I finally found the perfect motorsickle project. Ultimately unsatisfied with the America and Bonneville, (caveat: as an ultimate bike only, love each of them... 'specially the Bonnies) I plan to assuage my inner mad scientist by crossing a Bonneville with an American to create my vision of the ideal ride.

Yes, I know what you are thinking, but still you read on, unable to look away. I found a basketcase Scrambler for the engine. Hoping to go the stroker route and bring it up to around the 1000 mark. The most difficult part of the project will be designing the frame. The American/Speedy engine offset always rubbed me the wrong way, and the Bonnie frame is just too vanilla for what I envision. Harder than pulling teeth to get this idea across to any of the custom frame builders I have talked to though. "No I don't want outrageous rake and stretch, yes the seat must be more than 7" off the ground." Apparently nothing is so 'cookie-cutter' as a custom built frame.

My monstrosity shall be dubbed "American Bonneville" when brought to life. Hope to have it completed by the time I reach 55. At least have it completed before I am voted off this mortal coil. Exponentially harder to explain wanting to be buried with several boxes of parts rather than a mouth watering one-off bike.

So.
