Does anyone else struggle to shift into neutral while the engine is not running?

This is the main reason I park in neutral - except if on a hill. If I have parked in gear, I usually need to start the bike in gear and then slip the clutch slightly before she will allow me to shift into neutral. All a bit of a hassle. Anyone know any tricks/knacks to overcome this issue?
