Hey Guys, I've looked around on here a pretty good bit and was wondering if anyone had done a ram air set up for our bikes. I think it'd look really cool seeing a pod coming out of each side moving forward. Once I get my battery relocated I'm hoping to tackle this with the help of a machinist pal. Any comments or concerns I might have doing this are welcome.

I was done by at least one member here awhile ago... He had used plumbing elbows to make the bend, IIRC.

Just my 2 cents...

I recently knocked my left pod off of my carb. (freaked about 4 years ago, battery moved about 2 years ago) I am pretty sure that my left leg was to blame for knocking it off. I'm not sure how comfortable it would be to have the air filters sticking out further than stock and possibly rubbing on your leg. Not only for riding but with your leg straight down when stopped. Keep in mind that I am only 5'7" ish so my legs are not as long as some other on here.

On the other hand... Go and give it a try. Without people around to try new things we wouldn't have all the other mods that are so popular around here.

Yeah I know it's gonna be close. I'm hoping to keep it as short a distance going forward and close in to the carbs as possible. Even then I'm 6'4" and I think it'll still be sitting just inside my leg. Maybe the price to pay for something that looks cool. Kinda like the Low Profile seat on my wish list.

Bring it up and out at the front like a V-Max would work. That said, the power gain IMHO would be minimal at best.

That's the setup I was thinking of, originally done by boogieman using p-traps.

Hey guys thanks for the threads, pics and ideas. I especially like davespains bike that's sweet and exactly where I was wanting them to go. I've been envisioning I guess this whole time one big U shaped piece running from one side to the other with two Inlets for the carbs hopefully allowing me to brace it up somehow in the center for some stability. Of course I've been thinking about this on a boat in the Gulf for the last 3 weeks so gotta wait till I get home to see if that would even be worth doing. If not I'm gonna try the davespain direction.
