You're not 'risking' anything per se, but with some guidance from members here, a little wrenching and a handful of tools you can check your valve clearances quite easily and save the $300. As John pointed out... you probably won't have to make adjustments but it's good to know that for sure by checking. If you have a Haynes manual that helps a great deal.
