I am in the process of changing tires. I have 15K on them and the rear is a little smooth to say the least. I am going to put on some white walls and paint both rims black to try and hide the uglyness of the front wheel.

My problem is figuring out what size alen wrench the front is? The local Triumph dealer (North County Yamaha) whom I would never take it to for service told me it was a 17mm so I went to sears tro but one and it is too big. Anyone know what it is?

Also tire size to order for the WW tires, Maxims or better.

12mm on the right, 19 on the left.

19mm is a direct crossover for 3/4 inch. Might make it easier.

I assume by left you mean while you are sitting on the bike since that is the larger one?

A 5/8 spark plug wrench can work if you flip it around and use the hex head on it.

Yes. I also did the bolt trick for that. Go get a bolt who's head is a 19mm hex, then get a couple nuts for it, CRANK them together to jam them, and then you can use a socket on it.

The manual says you do not need to remove the caliper. Remove it first. It will make the wheel removal and re-install much easier. Place the speedo gear drive cable end in a plastic baggy until you re-install the front wheel (keeps it clean).

I just went through that. I found a single 12mm allen wrench at Sears. I had to use a short cheater to get the right side nut off. It was pretty tight. To back it up on the left side, I found a (close enough) nut in my toolbox and caught the edge with a cresent wrench. I tried to find a 12mm hex drive for my socket wrench, but the biggest I could find is 10mm.
