I just got home and washed up after a trip to the Harley dealship to screw around. I thought I'd ride a few bikes today and hit Harley first for fun and then Triumph to ride some Thunderbirds and Rockets of various forms. I never made it past the first ride at Harley.
I took out a Fatboy with some nice sounding V&H pipes and it rode pretty well I have to say. There was plenty I didn't like about it but it was fine. On the highway, I down-shifted and gunned it. It had some decent torque but I noticed a huge ploom of white smoke in my wake and figured, "pfff...Harley". I'm thinking, even though there is more power, I still prefer my bike for this reason and that reason and so on. Now it gets worse.
I notice some crap on the pipes as I looked down and figured it was some dirty water...nope. OIL. So I head down the road since I'm 1 mile from getting back to the dealer and hit a light. I lean over and check it out and oil is literally POURING from the air breather at about a qt/minute. Sheesh. I run the red, make a U, and head into a gas station. I called Harley and they had to come pick me and the bike up. Not fun. I was covered in oil on my right side from my waist to my knee down the back of my jeans. Got back to Harley and they said they probably over filled it. Maybe, but I laughed and just made me think back to all our poking threads at oil and Harley as I sat and watched that bike drain.
Then, I hopped on my speedy and was re-amazed on my way home at how well these bikes take a corner and how well they run.

I know you're not meaning to stereotype here, Chris but doesn't that just bring back how we typically thought of HD? And just when you were beginning to think, hey... this ain't a bad bike at all, lol!! Next time start at the Triumph dealership and leave the HDs for last!!

Live to love, love to live.
