I began with a Whirly Pop, a thermometer, and an attic fan; about 20 minutes of stirring constantly until that second crack sounded and the temp was a steady 450°. Don't be fooled by indoor hoods and the like as roasting produces a prodigious amount of smoke when it's done correctly.

I found I really just stick to the basics so I moved on to my current machine Gene Roaster and a couple of hours of coffee zen/roasting each week. Works for me.
