I remember the first bar that had all you can eat chicken wings here in town, about 20 years ago. They were pretty inexpensive and were a big hit. They had all you can eat, buffet style set-up, with 6 different flavors. One of my favorites is a flavor called Buffalo, the sauce that is used in these is Frank's RedHot Sauce. To me the wings have more flavor than are hot which I like.
Compared to other wings I've tried like automic, suicide or XXXHot.
The Buffalo style sauce originated at a bar in, guess.......
BUFFALO, NY! Called The Anchor Inn.
My mom told me that in the old day they either used the wings for soup or threw them out.
Now these little suckers are a gold mine for many places. Hell now we have wing cookoffs and many bars that sell wings. Their a big hit. Some of my favorite wings are sold at the little dives on the corner. I was in Maryland recently to visit my daughter and we went to a pizza parlor that sold wings. Here most places have at least 6 flavors. Some places have 12 or many more. All they had was barbecue and looked at me like I was an alien when I asked (after I ordered my meal)if anyone in town sells wings that are Buffalo style, butter and garlic, etc......
A co-worker told me when he moved here 8 years ago from Buffalo, that he ordered chicken tenders and when he got them they were plain. He asked them, "Where is the sauce." He said in Buffalo they have sauce on them. They got him a bottle of Frank's. Now, of course, they sell Buffalo style tenders, too.
My question is this. Where is your favorite wing place and what is your favorite flavor?
Are wings popular overseas?
