I don't really like knocking riders just because of the type of bike they ride but it's a continuous source of amusement for me watching and wondering why so many Harley riders tend to look the same with the riding gear they wear?
And I should talk being a TBA rider that wears a day-glo vest.

that's funny but not all harley riders are pirates.
on saturday the chain on my klr snapped and out of the 20 or so riders and drivers that passed me only a guy on a harley stopped to see if i needed help.

If it isn't broke, I haven't messed with it.

Great find here, Steve!

I gotta say MY favorite line in that was when the Harley rider says to the sportbike rider..."Well then, you're a Communist a$$hole who hates America and supports terrorism!"

And THEN, the Harley rider says the sportbike rider is lyin' about Harleys not be completely American-made because, "the Hog Forum says so!"

Ya see, this LAST one is ESPECIALLY why makin' fun o' many Harley riders is SOOOOOOO friggin' fun. It seems many of 'em ONLY read "American Iron" magazine, and so consequently many of 'em are SOOOOOOO friggin' insulated in their own little friggin' "Harley-Davidson All-American World", that MANY of 'em STILL appear NOT to know a simple little fact of life such as say...yeah, TRIUMPH is STILL makin' MOTORCYCLES!!!!

A phenomenon that I STILL find amusing every friggin' time a Harley rider walks up to me and seems surprised to see MY friggin' TRIUMPH right in front of his eyes!!!!

AND, I have to admit, more than a few times when this has happened, I've actually responded to these folks with somethin' like, "Well, maybe if all this time you would've subscribed to "Cycle World" TOO, and NOT just "American Iron", then MAYBE you would've KNOWN this little 'secret', huh?!"

(...yeah, I'm "bad" that way, alright...but then again, I'm sure ANYBODY who's been around THIS forum for any length o' time probably knows by now how I seldom mince words...in fact, just ask Eddy what my question to a particular Harley chopper rider was right after the moron crashed right in front of my truck while he was attempting to pass us on a blind mountain curve a few years back!!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Okay...I'll tell ya. While Eddy and I rushed out of the truck to see if the guy was alright, I yelled, "WHAT the F*** were you THINKIN' here, HUH?! Don't you know NEVER to pass a friggin' truck that has a Triumph sticker on it...ESPECIALLY on a BLIND friggin' MOUNTAIN CURVE? I mean, COME ON!!! You look to be about my age, and have probably been ridin' as long as I HAVE. YOU should KNOW THIS by now!!!"

(...actually, I felt sorry for the bike...it was a pretty cool Panhead Chopper that the moron dropped!)

American Iron features Triumphs quite frequently. Also Harley riders do tend to stop and help broken down riders on the road as motorat stated. Most other riders do not. They do exhibit a hospitality that most groups don't.

The Harley guys tend to allow peeps who ride other bikes to ride with them and hang out with them.

Hmmmm...okay then, Chad. So ya say "American Iron" magazine features the occasional Triumph within their pages, huh?! Well then, I have to wonder why I STILL get the above mentioned little scenario happenin' all the time, then?

Ya think maybe it's possible that many of 'em might just be flippin' past THOSE pages 'cause the bikes aren't V-Twins, then???

(...oh and btw, I didn't say anything about their "hospitality" here...I'm SURE many of 'em who seems clueless about the WIDE WORLD of motorcycling ARE very decent folks who ARE very hospitable...I WAS talkin' more about some of 'em who seem to LACK an appreciation and/or KNOWLEDGE of that WIDE WORLD of motorcycling that's ALL AROUND US, and THEN seem just a little TOO PROUD of their apparent lack of same!!!)

I'll give in that the Triumphs are usually classics and not so much modern, but well your probably right. They don't see any modern Triumphs in American Iron. As usual when speaking about the average American, World event escape most of them. Hell most Americans can't think of many events in modern American history. I would even venture to say they don't know whats going on around them right now.

Funny you bring this up.A good friend of mine has a softail heritage custom or something to that affect. He was pulling it apart to have a big bore kit installed all the time hes talking crap about american built this and that. I told him its assembled in america and thats it.He swore up and down i was so wrong till he pulled out like a piston, connecting rod, or something like that and stamped right in it was "built in china/taiwan".I laughed,he started off right over the deep end.It was great.

Well, truth be told here Todd, I can appreciate the fact that H-Ds are designed and assembled here in The States, even if many of their parts are outsourced. I mean, we DO live in a "Global Economy" nowadays afterall, and so for The Motor Company to go this route just makes economic sense.

It's(and I hate to belabor this point here...okay maybe I really don't) just that it seems SOOOOOOOOOOO many of these overly-proud Good Ol' Harley-ridin' boys, like your friend here, just seem oblivious to this fact.

Bottom line: I TOO would be proud to have a Harley-Davidson motorcycle(preferable one o' those cool XR1200s) sittin' in my garage, but at least I would know that many of its parts were made by those folks who "eat rice" and particularity those who "eat rice" over there on an island(Japan) who ALSO design and build some VERY good motorcycles TOO!!!!!

Btw Chad, and speakin' of "Lady Gaga"...

...while, yeah, IF it IS true that she's makin' more money than anyone else right now, that that DOES say somethin' about our collective priorities in this country, however I ALSO gotta say here that while I seriously doubt I'll be switchin' from my usual choice of listenin' to The Doors, C.S.N., The Who, The Beatles, etc, etc, etc on my two favorite Classic Rock radio stations here in beautiful Prescott Arizona...after watchin' her on SNL this past Saturday night, I THINK I'm startin' to see what all the kids out there are seein' in her.

Yep, I think she actually has some talent!

(...though yeah, like you said, not enough to make her the highest paid ANYTHING out there!!!)

LoL I love it!!!! My favorite part was about the "individualism"! I live in frigin' Tampa and haven't come across another America in the past few months at all! But yet, I could see 10 H-D's in one ride to work. It's insane!

I went to the local H-D shop this weekend to see if I could get a 7" visor there. I pulled into the "H-D Only Parking" and when I got off, two guys start walking towards me. I was thinking "They're gonna say 'Can't you read the sign?!'" but they didn't! Before I could even get my helmet off they were like "Woah man! That thing is gorgeous!!! What model is that!?" I was laughing my butt off!!

On the other hand, they were very nice guys and we chitchatted for a while.

Yea Dwight, Lady Gaga is marginally talented... Madonna 2.0 realy. I don't think she should die in a gutter or anything, but she is not nearly as talented as many others out there.
It was reported that she made more than Opra (another one I didn't get).
I find Diana Krall far more tallented and attractive.

"You are the one dressed up like one of the Village People."

Funny semi-related story to that line...

A long time ago (but in our own galaxy) I was driving around with my younger bro and our band mate, Jayson. Joe and I were up front, Jayson was in the back. I don't exactly know why, but I turned to Joe and said, "If I were one of the Village People, I'd be the Indian." He thought for a moment and replied, "I'd be the cop." Then he turned and asked Jayson which one of the Village people he would be. Jayson's response? "Which village?"

Lady GAGA is incredibly talented and is a classically trained piano player. IMHO.

I think they buy Harley because their friends have them and they think they are really pretty bikes. They do not need performance and could care less about twisty roads.

So, they like being out with friends, stop to help folks and love to socialize. Is that bad?

Has anybody looked at the odometer readings on some of the Triumphs for sale here? Lots of garage queens that don't say Harley on their tanks.

this is more than just flash

But it is a funny bit to be sure

If she is so Talented why the auto tune on every song (Heavely laden too I might add). She maybe a piano player if so she should do that. She puts on a visual show. Thats all.

The rest I agree totally with you.

You are right about one thing if you are thinking she is not Madonna. That lady can sing. Was it Evita where she played Eva Peron? GAGA could never pull that off.

Nope Ron, that ain't "bad" at all. It's just that I've always kinda wished that whenever I'm "socializin'" around with these kind of "helpful" H-D ridin' folks, that I could ALSO discuss, say, the latest DUCATI, or maybe the latest HONDA, or EVEN maybe the latest TRIUMPH model's attributes and/or negatives with the same level of insight and knowledge, AND with the same level of probability that this kind of discussion would take place that I've always seemed to find is more likely whenever I socialize with those who DON'T just ride Harley-Davidson motorsickles!!!

Come on guys you never had a friend that had something you thought was awesome, so you got one for yourself. Hot tub, Iphone, 0-turn radious lawn mower, EZ up canopy, bike accessories, fancy tools, brand of tire, cd, movie, or name brand what ever the hell.
I personaly Like Harleys. I prefer my Triumph but like Harleys. I can't stand most Jap bikes cause they are UGLY. Harley Is an American icon Triumph is a world icon.

All that being said I realy don't care. To each his own its called FREEDOM. Enjoy it while you can.

I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. Edgar Allan Poe
