This is directed at owners of fuel-injected bikes, either BA/SM or any of the triples. Have any of you used Tune ECU, and what did you think of it?
I'm still having some minor issues with my '00 Daytona, and I'd also like to be able to switch from the stock exhaust to the louder race can without having to go to the dealer for a remap each time. I'm getting tempted to buy the cable and try out Tune ECU. For this bike, I can't justify the cost of Tuneboy or PC, and hate paying the rising costs for my dealer to hook it up to their computer. I also don't want to get in over my head with a product that comes with little/no support. Is using Tune ECU fairly self-explanatory (especially for someone with limited computer skills)? I'm just looking for some input from anyone who has used Tune ECU with either a triple or a twin.
Thanks,
Will

I used it to re-map for my TORs and reset the TPS. Absolutely worth the money as it paid for itself x10 by saving me a trip to the dealer and paying 2 hours of labor for a ten minute job. Very easy to use, there's a user guide online and there is even a step by step guide in the Tech Vault. I'm on travel this week, but if you want to borrow mine, I could send it down to you next week (just got to promise to send it back).
Cheers, Drew

Thanks for the information guys (and the offer to use the cable). Eventually I'm going to buy a cable and give it a shot. I'm just more comfortable with mechanical things that I can see...and always put back together if I realize I'm in over my head. Computers spook me a little bit. I've got a few things I need to do before I can even give Tune ECU a try (valve check, get a notebook/netbook ), but eventually I'll get in there. Thanks, Will

Even if you never use the Tuning features, it's a must-have just for the Diagnostics alone - and of course there are no Diags with PC3! Incidentally my Laptop screen took a dump and I purchased an Asus Notebook off Woot for $185 shipped! It was factory refurb (designated anyway) however looked brand new, plastics still on the case & screen and pre-loaded with operating system at that price too! That is all that is required to use it.
So even with purchase of an inexpensive Notebook plus cable, still waaaay less expensive that TuneBoy or PC3.

I've read a little more of the information threads on the forums (duh, should have thought of that before posting) . Also browsed around on the Tune ECU site last night, and feel better about giving it a shot. The first time my dealer did a re-map (back in 2009), he only charged me $25 for it. Last time (when I put the stock pipe back on to quiet things down), just the re-map was close to $100. The cable and a notebook could pay for itself after just a couple of uses at those rates. Thanks again for the information and links. Will

I know my way around the program pretty well - if anyone has any questions, whether install or application use, be happy to pitch in. The User guide is pretty good and in perprtual update status, so check back frequently.

Thanks for that Ken. I have Tuneboy but I am thinking I may switch to TuneECU because Tuneboy gives me pain everytime I go to use it - installation issues. When I finally get it operating each time it works fine but maybe TuneECU will be easier and more reliable (from an installation point of view). It's also looking like TuneECU will become more popular.

I have both - paid a lot of money for TuneBoy - I now use TuneECU almost exclusively - much nicer interface and is updated frequently. Support from Alain is also excellent.

I have a customized Tuneboy tune in my bike. If I switch to TuneECU, can I copy that custom tune from the bike into TuneECU so I can keep it or modify it using TuneECU?
