Another odd thing we found while working on Bill's bike yesterday. His front brake lever doesn't return after activating. He recently had Pete's in Baltimore put on a set of chrome levers and the problem started than (don't ask me why Pete's wouldn't have noticed this!) I pulled the lever, greased the fitting and torqued properly. It's a little better, but still doesn't snap back. I don't think it is dragging, but I'd feel better if that lever popped back properly. Bill said he compared the lever to the stock, and they are identical (I guess I should have suggested seeing of the stock lever does the same thing). The boot to the piston looks intact. It had some grease on it, I cleaned that off a bit, but no change in lever action.

Any suggestions?

I bought some chrome levers and had exactly the same problem. Went back to stock. Didn't really like the chrome (or the quality of the chrome) anyway.

Thanks, now I don't feel stupid for not being able to correct it. I wonder if I shaved a little off each side of the pivot point? (dremel)
I polished my stock ones, not chrome, but better.

I tried that, but it didn't really help. Might be the bore of the hole. All I know is that I put them on right before my California trip in 2007 and half the trip I "dragged" the front brake enough, not realizing what was happening and scorched the rotor.
