I was reading the story about the LV cops. It said they had no protective gear but their helmets. When I'm in that kind of environment I always wear a mesh jacket. It's much, much cooler than having my skin baked in the Nevada sun plus I can put some armor in if I want to. These guys need to wise up. Maybe it's about looking cool instead of being cool.
It was actually NLV, different city (although part of the metropolitan area), different police. But it's true all the same. The NLV, Henderson, and LV Metro police, as well as the highway patrol all wear a half helmet, and in mild and hot weather no protective gear otherwise except boots and gloves. I'll have to ask one of them about it sometime, I always talk to them when I get a chance.
Can't hurt
And I agree completely about the mesh jacket being cooler than sun on skin . I live it.
