There's a poker run planned in my area for this Saturday. Ff the weather cooperates, I might participate. Anyone here ever do one? Checking on-line, I basically know what to expect, just never tried it. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

they can be fun, its funer if you have a buddy to ride along with. its 7 stops and if its planned right, some good roads inbetween. Ihave ridden around the kent area b4.
spent a very long day on it in fact since it was planned to really ride! some oare short and just for a quick fund raiser. check on what the rt is. take a friend, either on back or another bike. trust me. dependingon teh crowd that shows, you may be on your own unless your a outgoingperson who just walks up to folks and gets intothe goings on.

I participate in a season opener most years here sponsered by a club called the Flying Fifteens. It is a popular and fun poker run. I agree have a friend or two to ride along with makes it more fun. Heck you might even win something.

I have done that poker run the last few years..look out for the cowgirls delivering the latte's..lots of bikes(200+)and crowded..cant imagine you rideing with the crowd(let most leave and then follow behind..it is not a race but the highest hand wins)..I am staying home this year and getting bike ready(quieting down the exhaust!)for my Arizona run in 2 weeks!
life is good..I am retired..sold my America in 2008,bought a Rocket and sold that in 3/2013 and now own a new Triumph Bonneville T-100

It's fun if the route is good and you're with a nice small group. We ride a number of them in SE Washington and always for good causes. We usually leave a few minutes before the main pack as there are many people that don't have a clue how to ride in groups. Unfortunately a number of stops can be and are at bars, so be careful. Go and enjoy, like Friar said, start it and if you don't like it, leave. Have fun and ride safe

It's a great way to meet local riders and it can even be some fun in the between the card draws.

I've done a couple local runs, usually a good time, but as stated above, there are alot of inexperience bar hoppers in every crowd so be careful. Just be prepared to spend a lot of time talking about you bike...I am usually the only Triumph in a herd of Hogs and therefore the center of attention (and envy).

I've done many poker runs. Some leave in one big pack and others take off in small groups like a scavenger hunt. Either way, loads of fun if the weather's nice and it doesn't become a drunk fest.

Stay in a small group with your friends, safer that way.

Haven't ridden one in a long time, but enjoyed the the ones I rode in. Of course that was over in San Diego, CA . I'm currently planning one for our club in October (along with a 3 day rally). Looking forward to it.

Have done quite a few over the years. Don't know if it applies in the states but in OZ you have to be quite careful as in the large ones riders will weave in and out at speed and travel very close to the rider in front. Not many do this but enough to make it dangerous and have seen some nasty pileups though stupidity. I always hang to the back and give myself enough room to manouvere if things go pear shaped in front of me. Sure that some riders think of it as a challenge to be in the first 10 and do not seem to realise or care what happens to the riders they cut in on etc
