Not sure how your Yamaha dealer situation is, but my wife and I love my Royal Star Tour Deluxe (the stripped down Venture). The seating area is a good deal bigger than the RIII touring and it handles well for as heavy as she is. We are heading out to do the cross country trip in three weeks on her.
