OK, OK, I gonna catch it and I know it, but let me explain first. I've been looking for a touring bike that my wife could ride with me on. She has a bad neck and back problem (loerdosis (sp?) and scholiosis (sp?)). Anyway, a buddy of mine works in a local KW shop (I was looking at a Voyager) and recently came across a trade option made for a new Spyder with all the bells and whistles.

Bike #1

2003 E-glide FLHTCUI 100th Anniversary Edition. Completely modded out with a ton of extras including a Mustang seat, total chrome rework, screaming eagle pipes, blah, blah, blah. $12000 out the door. What's so special you say - IT ONLY HAD 76 MILES ON IT . Needless to say, I bought it. First HD I ever owned and the first bike over 1k CCs. What a boat. We have had an awkward start on our relationship. I'm not a HD guy, but I recognised the value of this buy. But that's not the whole story.

One would think "What kind of nut buys a full dress HD, brand new, tricks it out, and then stashes the bike in a closet. I figure those 76 miles were driving it to the installer to have the Mustangs installed. But, he didn't stop there.

Bike #2

Sorry, no pics.

2006 Goldwing, fully loaded, then modded with custom trunk and saddle bags, swing arm rests, more chrome. A custom embedded LED system throughout the bodywork that shimmered light shows. Full navigation system with every kind of electronic device sold (and up to date). This bike had 5 miles on the odo .

He tradeed both these bikes for a touring Spyder worth about $28k. Each of these bikes were worth more than that new. Talk about an investment package gone south.

Wifey really loved the Wing, but at $20000, the HD was more affordable . Putting some miles on her (the HD) to get used to the weight. Me and HD are struggling , but I'll get the hang of navigating the QEII soon enough. My America still has the preferred parking spot in the garage though .

Good score, Marlin! Now you REALLY have something to do that Alaska trip with!! If I could afford it, I'd have some sort of geezer glide in my stable too. Very nice!

12 grand for basically a brand new fully loaded touring bike... man you lucked out there, what a score! Just make sure it gets ridden from here on out!

Nice looking bike! All that weight does take little getting used to, esp. at lower speeds. I love my big heavy touring bike because I love that my wife is comfortable on longer rides... but my America still is #1 with me.

I'm so envious. I've always liked those bike HD tourers. Nice buy and hope you enjoy your new ride. it looks fantastic and just look at all the accessories you have to play with.

I rented one of those a couple of years ago to ride from Las Vegas to Dwights in Prescott and back.
What a barge.
Great for cruising though
Comfy as hell

+1 on the barge. First day, I laid her over backing her up. I'm used to leaning the TBA a little when backing to get a sharper turn. I have learned there is no leaning this beast. Took 3 guys to get her up. But, we,re getting along better now that I understand some of the physics related to mass.

Sweeeeet Deal. Any further idea on why the guy would go to all that trouble and not ride it?

That is a nice bike. Take your time on 337 though or it will leave metal behind.

Nah, never met the chap. Figure he just had a wad laying around he needed to get rid of. And if we're on 337, it won't be the tank. I'll be on the TBA, something I know for that road.
