I would never switch to a belt drive unless they could come up with a quick way to fix one along the road like a master link in a chain and a way to change one out that way too so I wouldn't have to take half my bike apart. To change my chain all I do is pop the link slip the old one out then thread the new one back in. Only disassembly is the master link.

I got the new cahin yesterday from the dealership. When I got it homw I figured out they are different brands the stock chain is a DID the new one is an EX. I hope this one lasts as long as the original.

I have gone ahead and gotten a clip style master link. I hope this works at least nearly as well as the original chain did.

20,000 miles aint bad. Thanks for all the help guys.

Clip style link is a real bugger to install on the X ring chain if you don't have a tool to compress the seals.

How does that thing work anyway? I guess I'm not looking at it right? I see how the chain fits in it, but then what? How does it make it easier?

Maybe, I don't understand the discussion here, but when I changed out my chain and sprockets a couple of years ago, I had to remove some links from the chain. Don't remember why. I do remember the difficulty we had adding the master clip link to the chain.

I have probably 8k miles on it now, but I expect to have to replace sooner or later. Even if I use a clip, having a press for the rivets and plates, will be an advantage.

Got the kit today. I think it was worth the money.
