Just reading the new copy of Motorcycle Sport & Leisure mag.
It seems rumours are abound in Thailand that Triumph is developing and due to start testing an all new single 300cc and 350cc single naked street bike.
Aimed as "an affordable entry-level bike in developed markets such as the US and Europe and ... Asia, Africa and South America"

Apparently news of the bike emerged last month in Brazilian magazine Motociclismo (what else?!) where they said it would be built in Manaus, Brazil from parts shipped over from Thailand.
It is supposed to appear in 2012 as a 2013 model year and will be powered by a liquid-cooled single measuring between 267cc and 350cc depending which country it is sold in.

They say if it is true then it would position it against the KTM 125 Duke being manufactured in India.

Triumph said "We cannot comment on any speculation regarding the development of new models"
What a surprise!

I really hope this report is accurate. I'd love to see Triumph competing in the small-bore market again. Yeah, it won't be a "proper" Brit-built bike, but there's a huge segment for new riders, and for folks who want better city bikes (me, for instance).

I'd be very interested if Triumph ever made a contemporary version of the ol' Tiger Cub, especially if they also built something like the T20C, which was an off-road bike. Yeah, if Triumph comes up with a small thumper Enduro style bike I'd be very interested.
