Most people have no idea what McCarthy was censored for, but they love to throw that ism around. There has been a lot of scholarship done concerning released KGB docs since the Soviet Union disolved. No doubt McCarthy was a drunk and a bully, hell by today's standards he would be a celebrated Senator.
