Rode up to a new motorcycle museum that opened in Newburgh NY. yesterday. The name of the museum is Motorcyclepedia and they have over 300 vintage bikes on display. Mostly American, but there is a complete Indian timeline along with sections on customs, racing bikes, pre-WWI cycles, and a lot of memorabilia. This is a very well done museum that is clean, well-lit, and has a very reasonably priced admission. I highly recommend it. I have some pictures I took posted to my flickr site, http://www.flickr.com/photos/24915462@N06/

Very nice photography of some very nice old machinery there, Chuck. I love those old H-D KR racers, especially. (...and the other shots you've taken of "not necessarily 'chinery" are also first rate...you're pretty darn good with a camera, aren't cha?!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Dwight, Thanks for the kind words. Photography has been one of my many passions and is my only creative hobby. It's always nice to hear that my efforts are appreciated.

I agree those are pretty nice pics! THIS is pretty cool, don't cha all think? I've always been entranced by the Indian motorcycle and it's story.
Live to love, love to live.

Hope this is not OT, but how many different American motorcycle manufacturers have there been over the years.
Being from England originally I can name a lot of English bike manufacturers but not many American.

I think I've read somewhere once that, yes, England over the years did indeed have more motorcycle manufacturers than did any other country, Frank.
Btw, in an effort to find the answer to your question, I first went to the "Motorcycle" Wikipedia page, and even though I couldn't find it there, I have to say somebody over there at Wiki seems to have a very well developed sense of what graphics should be posted first and foremost to show what could be considered as a prime example of "a motorcycle" to any and all of those inquiring minds out there.

Good find there Mark, however I did finally find Wiki's list of all m/c brands ever produced by all countries here....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_motorcycle_manufacturers
...and it appears that yes, those Limeys over there on that little ol' island o' theirs DID over time have more manufactures of motorcycles...err...I guess motorBIKES, than did any other country.
(...though word is that a particular gentleman named Joseph Lucas "helped" to kill off almost all of 'em over time!!!!)

I just picked up a used Bonneville America in Newburgh a couple of months ago. I'll have to take a trip back.
