Could be the neutral switch as you say. Disconnected the connector "next to the oil filter" and grounded the wire to the frame. The green neutral light lit up. Gonna try to change the switch into a new, fresh one. Fingers crossed... Do you think this will fix my problem w the sidestand switch? Further detective work looking for a reason for the oil warning light not working is next.
