Hi,

Does anyone know if the Speedmaster & America Control Switches (brake & clutch sides) are the same \ interchangable (EFI & non EFI types).

Thanks

There's no EFI related controls on the handlebars - so they should be the same. After all, why would Triumph go through the costs of re-tooling for no reason.

I imagine you are thinking of modifying the controls from an older model to solve your handlebar problem?

Thanks Richard,

yup, What I am doing is buying some cheap ones ($26) from the breakers and using the wires and plugs from them to make the existing wiring long enough to go through the internal part of the bars and back into the headlight.

I could cut the plugs off the ends and extend and re-attach but this way I only need to splice once and only have 1 set of joins not 2, and I get to keep the same colour wires and factory plug connectors.

Fussy I know but Triumph have went to a bit of trouble with their odd ball wiring coloured stripes so I am keen to keep it that way for future trouble shooting against the wiring diagram schematics.

For $26 *2 it also seams like less hassle in getting the wiring wrong as well.

Thanks Keith, I also bought a wiring harness for $49 for the plug ends. Will allow me to do quip swaps on my fenders.

They can be somewhat tricky to track down Jason I have to say, but they are out there.

It's really a matter of doing an internet search on bike Breakers who are breaking Triumph's, then take it from there as oppossed to searching for the particular part

BUT BE CAREFULL, I have been told that the plug ends can vary from year to year and model to model. One guy reconned the 2003 speedmaster had a different plug end from the 2007.

What model and year is yours and I will keep an eye out.

I still need the left hans side, they seem a bit harder to come by at the moment

This may also help, its the parts index

This chrome set up looks interesting, no idea where one would get their hands on it though, as its just listed as Speedmaster Accessory Detail 3 from some random page:

This nice little piece of bling seems to come directly from Triumph as surmised by viewing the Official Triumph page on flickr.

Yeah, I came across it by pure accident when looking for something else. The site it was on (flkr) said it was a genuine triumph part for a speedmaster but had never seen it before on Triumph's own site for the Speedy or America so was curious, if it was an old discontinued line.

It being from a different triumph makes sense though.

In saying that just had another look and its Definitely saying its a Triumph Speedmaster 2011. Maybe Triumph haven't put it or their site yet for purchase- OR being in NZ maybe ours or the UK sites haven't been updated with it yet

Post deleted because I didn't read the thread carefully enough - the info I wanted was already there. Carry on - don't mind me.

NO worries Foglefar, I was going to go down to the triumph shop tomorrow and price up a new one for you.

From what I can tell the following links give an indicative price on new parts.

http://www.worldoftriumph.com/section.php/4276/1/parts_locator
And also the bike bandit
http://www.bikebandit.com/2010-triumph-speedmaster/o/m18752

However I have seen the full right hand assembly of brake master cylinder, brake lever plus all the wiring for US $100 on Ebay and the wiring from $26 to $85, which includes the plastic housing with start switch etc as shown at very top of this post.

These parts are dependent on either the bike being an insurance right off (dropped, stolen or crashed).

The best way to get hold of these parts is to go down to your local bike shop and ask if they have any insurance right off’s in and if they are willing to sell parts or get a list of bike breakers and see if they will contact you when they get a Speedy\America in.

On a different note you can see the chrome body detail in this picture from the one above so it must be a speedy 2011 detail, although I can't find the part yet, maybe its still to be released
