Newbie question, my 07 SM Tacho needle sits at 3500 rpm even when disconnected. It does move up from there as the revs go up but returns to 3500rpm when off. Was working fine until today. Any ideas?
Cheers

Sounds like you might need a new one.

Had the same problem. Wound up being corrosion in the tiny plug right on the back of the tach. Cleaned it up and right as rain now.

on the plus side - you're right in the power band!

seriously though, it's at 3500 even with the key out of the bike? That would have to be mechanical.

Same here!

It already hapened to me last year, I already replaced the tacho.
Now it's stuck again at 3500 rpm yesterday. I ordered a new one.
(I tried to unlock it but I just totally destroyed it by now )
For now, that makes one per year

Damn, I just bought a new one, that costs me an arm, a leg and an eye !!!!

300,00 euros for that #@%!!&# Tacho !
A part that is guaranteed for 3 months only!

Last year they sold it at 160.00 / 170.00 EU, but my vendor said that this one was a new one, with new features, bla bla bla.

In fact it's exactly the same.
I'm very angry. I'm not sure about my vendor now ...
