Great news for the area with 400 jobs being created but with manufacturer's figures of " a top speed of 120mph (193km/h) and takes 8.4 seconds to go from 0-60mph " that's a bit ... er ... crap for an 'MG'!
A 1.8 litre turbo and only getting 120mph?

Have a look here - scroll half way down for a video.

Oh yeah, mostly built in China then assembled at Longbridge so obviously it smells of rice - gotta put that in.

I'm thinking of starting a book on how long it takes 'em to go on strike like the good old days of Longbridge

They don't make 'em like they used to ...

I wonder if they will come to the U.S.? Fond memories of the brand, hopefully the overall quality will be much improved from back in the 70's.

I remember a few years ago they were talking about making those in the U.S., but I think it got killed by government regulations. Hopefully, these ones are not going to be yet another brand we'll never see in the U.S.

Good to see the old brand back. Just wish they had kept the same design essentials with mechanical improvements like, oh.... lets see - TRIUMPH!
They didn't even keep the grill?

I'm speeding because I have to get there before I forget where I was going.

Settle down. Believe it or not, MG over their history has made more than just little two seater convertibles that we have known in the U.S. and they only stopped making them about six years ago. you don't realize how many cars (some great, some not so good) are out there that we have never seen in the U.S. and never will. However, this is the MG TF. I am going to guess that it will be next, MG has it on their website.

While I share everybody's sentiments here that a front-drive four door sedan doesn't exactly spring to mind when talkin' about an MG, actually Adey, I'll betcha that MGA you also posted a pic of in your thread here was a lot slower than the above figures.

(...even with the higher performance but fragile Twin-Cam engine in it)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

No question about it! I always thought the MGA was the best lookin' of all the MG models.

(...it always kinda reminded me of a 4/5 scale Austin-Healey 100...another one of my favs!)

Back in the day I used to drive a friends MGB GT (Soft top) believe it or not I used to pick churn of milk up in it and throw them in the back seat...

The churn of milk for those that don't know looks like this

Speaking of the Triumph brand, it seems that the marque (for Triumph cars) is owned by BMW.
Don't be surprised if they produce a Spitfire in the not too distant future.

They didn't do too badly with the Mini.

It couldn't be any worse

Back in the nineties I had a diesel Maestro van,
(one of these
), and a MG F decided to blow me off on the duel carriageway.

I nearly wet myself from laughing when he blew up his engine in the attempt

I know there were rumors about it a bunch of years ago, but BMW said that they really had no intention of doing anything with the Triumph brand.
