I know you guys in the US are angry about rising fuel prices but prices in France have reached 1.60 euros a litre. (95octane petrol)

That equates (roughly) to 11.6 USD a gallon.

Are you sure you have this right. Our aussie dollar is neck and neck with the US and showing the euro at .72. Then again I was never that good at maths.

This subject is a good way to make a fellow angry. There is no ned for the prices to be so high.

And what is worse is that I use just as much gas in my bike as my car. The bike may get better mileage but I always seem to take the long way no matter where I am going.

At least I get there with a smile on my face.

I guess I should count my blessings. Regular unleaded is $3.49 here. I pay $3.65 for non-ethanol midgrade 89 Octane. True about riding the bike and smiling.

About $3.75 to $3.79 US dollars per US gallon here. This is the price for regular gas.

I paid $4.14 for premium yesterday in SE Washington State. Will be riding the bike all season as the truck gets 14 mpg downhill with a tail wind and that's the only vehicle we have besides the bikes.

What grade do you run in your bikes? We use premium in warm weather and mid-grade in the winter.

Guys, I work in a gas station here in Scotland and we're currently at £1.33 a litre! Which is about £5.96 a gallon and that makes it about $9.58 for you US folks... Scary indeed.
And, no, I didn't look up exchange rates but it's usually floating around £1 to $1.60.
And the bad news? It's going to keep on going until the whole Middle East thing eases down a bit which should be, err, never.

Coal - $215 a ton, 2 tons keeps us at 90ºF all winter. Added benefit of burning our own personal hole in the ozone layer above our house. therefore causing our own little global warming and raising the temp in our yard by 5ºF a year. Had to mow the lawn last winter while the neighbors were snowblowing.

$3.93 today for a gallon of regular. A little more for ethanol free.

$15.38 today for a 12-pack of Goose Island Honker's Ale (including tax). About $13.67 a gallon.

I get pretty good mileage out of both.

I might go back to burning waste oil and used tranny fluid. I did that for years in a reantal house I lived in. I mixed it with some kerosene and it worked very well. Only side effect I had was needing to change the filter on the tank more often.

Bucky, should I tell you about natural gas prices here in Colorado. In New Milford, I paid about $125/month for my heating oil last year when it was still decent at about $2.5 or so a gallon. Now that I have NG out here, I pay $52/month AND run my thermostat about 8-10 degrees higher. Needless to say, you can sense how much I miss oil heat!!!

D*mn Pat, I paid @2500 for propane this year. And that's keeping the house at 68 degrees. Granted, the hot water heater and stove also run off it, but I would be surprised if they acccount for more than 1/3rd of my annual usage. Was your new house set up for coal when you bought it, or did you convert? Send me a PM.
