Stacka, have you got a trailer for your bike? My thought is to try to do everything I can myself, and if I get into a real bind I can always load the bike onto my trailer and take it to a good mechanic. It may surprise you what you can accomplish, and with the trailer you're never at a loss for finishing the project. Just my two cents worth.
