Drag specialties makes 2 sizes, one too big and a smaller one just the right size. For the smaller one it is part #DS-391671 short gas filter, 5/16" F.L. (the fuel line size on America/Speedmaster is 5/16) I purchased an extra filter element (which is replaceable inside the glass housing) that would be part # DS-391675 (replacement short filter element) Info supplied by Fishercat and Jerry

You can find several 5/16 filters here, http://www.dragspecialties.com/fatbook/1732/206

Edit: Here's another one from Reid.
This K&N Fuel filter is perfect and allows you to get rid of the "hidden filter".
It's 5/16" barbs and easily fits between the petcock and top of carbs.
It's clear and you can easily see if you got into some junk fuel.
And only $6.38 direct from K&N.

Honda clutch cable (thanks Wojo)

Part number: 22870-447-405.

It fits the following Honda models:
CM400C '81
CM400E '80
CM400E '81
CM400T '79
CM400T '80/'81
CM400TZ-EA '79/'80

You must use a zip tie to hold the cable to the frame since it is shorter than our stock cable. If you don't it will rest on the header pipe and melt when the pipe gets hot.

Additional info from Skillet:

Honda CM400 clutch cable
Parts Unlimited Part Number - K28-5544. $12.95. Even comes with a little rubber boot at the lower end.

The OEM # is: 22870-447-010 where the posted OEM # is the same except for the last 3 digits. I just installed this one and it works.

HD Sportster rear chrome rack ( Brent sells it , and that's my bike in the pic )

honda magna brackets fit for saddle bags

Many guys have used EZ Brackets on their bags too.

And from DK1:
Quote:

I noticed that the rear fender support bolt spacing on a 2003 Kawasaki Mean
Streak looked about the same as my Bonneville America. A quick measurement
confrimed that they were less than a 1/4 inch closer together. So I ordered
a set.

The bolts supplied with the brackets are way too long for our bikes. I went
to the local True Value and bought four stainless metric bolts about one
inch longer than the bolts in the rear fender support (or what came with the
backrest/luggage rack).

Here’s the Kawasaki part number: K53021-103 (about US$60 plus shipping).

Kuryakyn brake pedal part #8022. Fits Harley Davidson '99-'03 XL 883/1200 Customs and '03 FXDWG.

After removing the rubber on the stock brake pedal a shim of some sort (part of an aluminum can works, thanks snekeptp) must be put inside the new pedal for it to snug up.

Kuryakyn shifter pedal part #8004.

To install this pedal the shifter arm must be removed from the bike. Remove the rubber from the stock pedal and then cut off the pedal from the arm. Drill a hole into the arm for the new pedal. The hole size you drill depends on if you wish to tap the hole or not. The pedal can be threaded into the arm or put on with a nut.

I came across this thread where roundy77 bought an H-D Deuce sissybar and put it on his bike. Anyway, just thought I'd pass this along if you don't have it in your files.

Plug and Play Sissy Bar Brkt
I installed a Plug and Play sissy bar bracket this weekend. I know there was a post that mentioned this piece before but I can not locate it. The bracket that fit was the JJ, it fits the contour of the fender perfect. It also has only 2 holes in it that lined up strangely to the two theaded holes for the fender for the seat. The pin for the gunfighter seat had to be mounted on top of the bracket however because it’s bolt heads were to high and the pin wouldn’t lock. Otherwise it would have just dropped on and be done. The bar is a Krome Werks Bantam. My local bike shop fixed me up with the bracket, bar and pad for 315.00 CAD.

I installed a pro 1 universal loop this weekend. I like it. If anyone is interested it did require some simple mods to get it to mount.
1. The TBA speedo cable is too large on both ends to fit through the loop. I had to file 2 slight flat spots opposite each other in the knurled end that screws into the speedometer. Once filed the speedo cable can be threaded through the loop. Don't go crazy with the file, just bring down enough to get the screw end through.
2. The hole in the fender from the rubber mount is about 1/2 inch in diameter, too big for the loop's screw. So I cut the rubber off flush with the fender and used the remaining plug as a spacer. This worked out well because the loop is now rubber mounted and has a little give to it.
3. My speedo cable was routed very tight under a few wires near the gas tank. With the speedo end disconnected I pulled it though the wires and just let it hang free when I reconnected it to the speedo. I then zip tied it to the wire bundle. This seems to let the cable to hang a lot looser and cause much less stress at the loop.

Like it's been said, no set interval. Mine lasted until about 30.000 miles. I replaced it with a Thunderbird rubber, and got a bit tighter fit than stock. There should be no play with the cush drive rubber. If there is, it could cause the chain to stretch. The Tbird part # is T2012211.

Not actually from another brand of bike, but still -

From Soren...

Part number for the wiring harness (only) for the Triumph Driving lights is A9930037. Great if you want to put on custom lights without messing with your bike's original connector.

With props to Fishercat and Dinqua I want to recommend
the Napa 740-1866, Napa part # 12BS, 209 CCA $54.95.
The stock Yuasa is 180 CCA.
The Yuasa YTZ14S that Dinqua referenced has 230CCA. This unit is very pricey. Two different quotes in Knoxville,Tn. List price $ 159.99. First quote $ 125.99,second quote $140.99.
Both locations stated they would need to order,ya think!
Apparently this is the new super duper whatchamacallit.
My two cents.

Maybe this can be posted in the tech vault.

I just wanted to pass on that you can replace the stock mirrors with Suzuki volusia/boulevard c50 mirrors.

you have to use your stock mirror posts but the zuke mirrors will screw right on to the triumph posts.

much better then stock.

Okay I finally dug out my invoice and this is what it says:

18-8977 Float Needle: Keihin PWK carb $19.99 ea (7/30/2008 at Libby's in CT)

Looks like PWK and CVK carbs use the same needles. I compared them when I changed them out and they look exactly the same, haven't had any fuel leaking out so they work just fine and are less than half what other places want for the CVK needles.
