Hope Kenny & Uncle Charlie are OK. Kenny is a couple miles off the coast and Charlie is right on the coast and lives literally on the water. Both are supposed to be in the 100 MPH wind zone and it's doubtful either have power. Hope they and everyone else in Irene's path makes out OK.

I'm 100 miles inland in the foothills called "The Berkshires" and we got 4 & 1/2" of rain in just 12 hours with another 5 or 6" of rain to come. The wind is supposed to start here anytime at 40 to 50 with 70 MPH gusts. I spent some time yesterday lashing down the outdoor stuff, so hopefully it won't go skippin' through a window. Oh to have a spare $15 or $20K or more for a whole house Onan or similar quality diesel gen set... Put that one on the powerball to-do list. Got plenty of camping gear and around 100 lbs of ice in the house, with two Sunday papers and an audiobook copy of "Mayflower" on the pod player. Both grand children are here so not a lot of reading going on at the moment.

Looks like we're in the cone right now. The sun is popping out here & there. Apparently the back end of the storm should bring more wind, but the front side was almost a non-event for us. Maybe 20 & 30 MPH winds? Rain total so far - 6 & 1/2 inches in about 18 hours with rain currently stopped. Haven't lost power (yet).

This is the first location I've ever lived at where the cellar is dry. I just did a walk around and I'm seeing zero water. 6" of rain in under a day is probably as heavy as it gets around here. I'm a happy boy!

Spoke with Uncle Charlie last night. He's alive and well and all is intact.
Apparently he will be without power for 6 days,
but got his gen set running with a dragster fuel mixture to tweak it up a notch.

Haven't heard from Kenny, but where he lives that isn't surprising

My apologies if anyone is upset by a hurricane thread hijacks in a rally post.

I can't believe I did this...

After an email from Barry (pipedr) this afternoon, I found out that I had the wrong dates for the Noreast Rally this year. Somehow I convinced myself all along that the rally was Sept. 15-18 instead of this weekend. I have time off work next week...but not this week...So, I won't be there for the rally this week.

Maybe I'll still make the trip up there next week. Right now, I'm too pissed to make that decision. I hope you all have a great rally this weekend.

Will

I am packing as well. I am just hoping that it will not be raining on Friday when I plan to leave! I never have left to go anywhere in the rain. It is one thing to get caught in the rain but to pull out in the rain just sucks! I checked the weather for the weekend in Dansville and it looks like a 40% chance of rain on Friday then partly cloudy Saturday and Sunday. Is that what it sounds like up there?

Wrote a song about it
Wanna hear it?
Here it go

Strap a plastic Jesus to your headlight
kick the byotch in gear

Twist the throttle til the valves float
and git yer azz up dere

[take it to the bridge!]
`````````````````````````````
Got my new rear tire all mounted up and ready to go thanks to Greg at Toymakers last night, and will make a few other tweaks and pack today. Guess I better wash the banana juice off the new tire real good. A patio umbrella in a bucket full of concrete will be my best friend today. No garage blues...
See you Thursday pm, come rain, shine, snow, sleet, flying monkeys, alien invasions, zombie attacks, etc.
Son of a B****!
I thought the Rally was the 23rd to 25th.
Too much on my mind, I guess.
Not gonna make it.
Sounds like the weather is not going to be in our favor. It looks like it has changed again according to the internet.
It looks like the flooding is very bad in the Binghampton area. I'll check the weather a little later this morning and make a decision then. Too bad!
Rain? Peh! It's just a little bitty 2" per hour hurricane remnant sprinkle.
I'm out the door in a few, & hopefully still on schedule. 8:30 depart is my goal.
I borrowed a couple pontoons off the neighbor's DeHavilland Beaver just in case...
Keep the fire going Ed, I'm on my way.
Just got home from the rally. Had a great time as always. NOT A SINGLE RAIN DROP the entire rally. Nayner nayner nayner to all the people that wussed out. The weather was clear and sunny, tons of good company and beer.
Very uneventful ride home (only 30 miles away).
Another great job by Ed and company.
I'm glad you all had a great time. I am going to make that rally one day. Every time I see the pics each year I get envious. Ed and Vicki sound like great hosts.
The hosts did a great job again this year. I made it as a poser. Showed up on 4 wheels, bought the shirt and left.
I will make it on 2 wheels next year, rain or shine. Dansville or elsewhere.
Thanks, Ed. Your efforts are appreciated.
A big Thank You to Ed for all his hard work that made the rally a lot of fun. A big Thank You to Pat for the beer that made the nights a lot of fun also! The weather at the rally was perfect, it's too bad weather in the surounding areas kept people away. I had a great time!
Another Great Rally! I contemplated making the trip seeing all the weather reports, I even contemplated turning around after riding an hour in rain but it cleared up once I hit Bradford, PA after that it was great! I got wet on the way to New York and on the way home, but the weather was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL during the rally. I made it home about 2:00pm with no incidents. The shield I bought sucked but the mask definitely came in handy. How do the shields work on a full face helmets? Better than this one did I hope. If so I may have to get one for these long trips when rain is in the forcast. Oh well I made it!!! Great job again Ed & Vicky! and The beer was great Pat! What else can I say?
