I am also DEEPLY concerned about the possibility of this jackwagon making my life hell if I put up a fight in court.
In 2001 I got a ticket in the stretch of multi lane I mentioned near my home. The only problem was, the trooper did not know the actual speed limit at that point on the roadway. I even requested he look at the sign nearby which earned a reply of, "I know the speed limit. I don't need to look at a sign." When I got home I called his supervisor to let him know he had a trooper writing tickets when he did not know the actual speed limit. Two hours later the trooper called me at home. He informed me that he would be willing to amend the speed limit as written on the ticket but he would also change the ticket to say I was going an additional 30 miles per hour faster than the original charge which would qualify as 'reckless driving'. My wife was listening in and wanted me to bring charges or call internal affairs. I knew I didn't stand a chance with bringing charges against law enforcement. I called another trooper I coached with at the middle school and he said a trooper could 'amend' the ticket at any point up to the court date. I was screwed. That was the point I lost all respect for the Highway Patrol. You are right to be concerned.
