I just went to re-fit my Cam Cover with new gasket and Cam Cover Bolt Seals only to find the new bolt seals are not a snug fit in the recess they are meant to fit into?
is this normally the case?
The old bolt seals are pretty squashed out but approximately the same the size of the new bolt seals if you allow for the increase in OD due to the squeezing motion.
Thinking I may have been issued the wrong sized bolt seals?
Hoping other BA.com members have come across this before and know the answer.
Thanks
John Q

In all the times I have had the top off I never changed those seals, I just put some black instant gasket around them, pinch them down, wait 3 hours then tighten... never had a leak yet

Same as the Trojan, I think I still have my first or second set in and have had the head off many times. Just the rubber seal wears down a bit, some gasket compound is a cheap easy way out. Can't see it from my house.

Thanks for your advise guys.
I was a little worried the cam cover bolt seals may have been the wrong part but after a quick subject search on another well known Triumph forum I found out my parts were the correct ones. I used a sparing amount of Permatex gasket sealant around those bolt seals and just used a couple of small spots of superglue to hold the cam cover gasket in place so it wouldn't drop off during installation. I won't ever be using gasket goo on my cam cover gasket again though after all the effort it took to prepare the head & cam cover surfaces for a new gasket. All seemed well on my commute to work this moring and I suppose time will tell if it is a problem I can tick off as solved.

I changed those seals when I did my vale adjustment but re-used the gasket.
