Think about a buried wire boundry fence. We've had one for over 16 years. I bought a "Radio Fence" kit and installed it myself. The same unit has been in two different houses. I break the wire occasionally, but it's pretty bulletproof other than my foolishness.
We had two dogs, one passed away in August, so we're down to one. She knows she can only exit the yard when her collar is off and only across the drieway when we take a walk. She really doesn't need to even wear the collar very often, just as a reminder.
