OP speedy666 Greenhorn Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 26 bolton.england	Been given a present today of some heated grips. But being a very basic mechanic when I got down to installing them with the seat and tank off I couldnt decide where was best to connect to the live ignition feed so I couldnt leave them on by mistake. Everything looked well insulated and rather than start hacking away at wires I decided I would look for advice on here ( been to the tech vault but found nothing, guess this is TOO BASIC) but hey we all have to start somewhere

motorat Adjunct Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 476	i put some on a t100 a while back and i found the wire that charged the rear light and tapped into that. that way when the ig was off so would they be...one less thing for me to worry about. If it isn't broke, I haven't messed with it.

Of course the fuse would blow if things were overloaded but heated grips conceivably draw a lot more power than a couple o' lights. Do they come with their own inline fuse? dollarbill Adjunct Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 657 Wollongong Australia	Here is the wiring diagram. The best bet would be to power them directly from the battery with their own fuse. This new circuit would have a relay that sourced power from the green wire #6 at the ignition switch. This will ensure that they are only on when the ignition is on. You should also put a toggle switch for when you don't need them. This switch needs to be in the relay line from the ignition switch. I have seen this toggle switch mounted on the spare hole of the dash surround. Last edited by DollarBill; 04/01/2011 9:38 PM.
