Can anyone tell me where to get red lenses to replace my amber ones? I installed a Signal Minder and want to run the rear lamps always lit. Thanks Ride Safe

I have looked and looked for some red lenses. Have never found any to fit the stock lights. I did come up with this site "Cast site" , but I have not gone that far yet. One day, when I get one of those round-to-it's I will make a stab at it.

Same here, can't find em... Broke down and ordered some signals from BC and plan on putting a red bulb in the rears to make a semi red glow I have been running the signal minder for two years and not gotten pulled over yet...

I don't know about the laws in Free State (maybe there are none, that's why it's free!! ) But here in Nevada, MC turn signals must be amber .

I bet you'll have a hard time finding red lenses that will fit your turn signals without modifiction. Another way is to paint the amber ones red. There is a special translucent spray paint you can use, found where you buy car styling products. Works like a charm.

Piper I've looked for that stuff at auto parts stores, no luck. Think it's an EU only thing?

Maybe it is? Well, I found this with a little help from Google: 1605 Candy Apple Red translucent paint in the Hobby Section/Toys at any Walmart. Cost about $3.00 or have a look at this webpage: http://www.thisoldtractor.com/gtbender/turn_signals_as_running_lights.htmHope this helps...

From what I understand, that is federal law. I do not remember the site, but they had that kit to put a ring of red leds in your turn siganls, so you could have always on red running lights behind the amber lenses and still maintain the amber turn signals.

If that law is true, then it must be an MC only thing, because tons of cars have red rear blinkers, amber in front. I hav some spare lenses laying around, so maybe I'll try to find that stuff at walmart, thanks piper.

It may well be a fed thing, but I think traffic laws are still left up to the states in most cases. Nevada law does specify motorcycle turn signals must be amber, so yes, it does not apply to cages.

Back in my truck driving days, it was always said that amber if the light faced forward and either amber or red facing to the rear.

get kuryakyn halogen silver bullets. they come with amber, clear and red (real) glass lenses (at least mine did!). they're not dot approved because they do not display to the side, but i can't imagine being hassled over it. i've never had an issue. and the bulbs are sold everywhere including lowes and home depot.
as an aside, maryland is better known as the socialist republik of maryland, or the nanny state, rather than the free state.

I had thought that Florida required turn signals to be amber, but then the other day I followed a couple of motorcycle cops who had red rear turn signals. So I decided to check into it, and found Florida Statute 316.234 which states the requirements.. man was I supprised! The front turn signals can be either amber of white (clear?), rear turn signals can be either amber or red, and get this, the brake light can also be either red or amber! I don't think I've ever seen an amber brake light, ever.. Now, what I'm wondering is, what happens when you travel through other states with different statutes? I'm sure an amber stop light, even though legal in Florida, may cause some hassle in other states. Can the other states give you a ticket for equipment that violates their statutes but is legal where the vehicle is registered? Cheers, Brad

After checking the Nevada Revised Statutes concerning motorcycle lights, it turns out that the information that I posted is incorrect. It was posted at work by a trusted source and I never bothered to verify. Shoulda known. Nevadas' laws are similar; White or amber T/S front, red or amber or any shade between red and amber for the rear. Also allowed, a blue dot in the tailight not exceeding 1" in diameter. I don't know about riding in other states that have different equipment laws. Sounds like a question for Becky.

Ours states at least one and not more than two headlights. But there are so many with running/spot lights, including the cops, that it must not be enforced. Unless running lights don't count as headlights .

Actually I should clarify (sorry) I mean using the signals as running lights like with the signal minder. Since they are always lit, I think the rears need to be red cause it's a tail light.

They are from JC Whitney and a smidge larger than our stockers. They are also 2 filament so I wired them as running, brake, & turn.
I have all the numbers in a write-up I did, PM me your email address and I will send you the doc.

Oh . I'm sure that's Okay. I figure that if it's not prohibited, it's probably allowed.

I don't know about yours, but the red lenses that came with mine are too dark to use. They look like a #10 welding lense but in red. Even at night they were hard to see, and forget about day time.

Correct me please if I'm wrong, but if you were to replace the stock incandescent bulb with an LED setup, lens color shouldn't matter, since it's the color of the LED's that determines the color you see. If this is true, you should be able to keep the amber lens and replace the stock bulbs with these?... LED Cluster link
