I was a paramedic in my younger days. When we would get a call to a business with a fire lane, such as a large grocery store or big box, inevitably there would be cars parked in the fire lane for their convenience. I would ALWAYS position the ambulance in a way to keep them blocked in until we were ready to go if it was at all possible. If anyone protested in any way I picked up my walkie-talkie and had a police cruiser drop by to have a chat. If it was a non life threatening call and we weren't on the hook for another call I took my sweet time finishing up just to watch the miscreants squirm.
The things people will do to keep from walking an extra 30 feet astounds me.
