If it's an aftermarket filter with the 'nut' welded on the end for tightening, check that it's not leaking where the 'nut'welds to the filter body. There has been some discussion about that here.

I had a K&N made with that 'nut.' Last year it delaminated spewing oil all over the back of the bike. I was lucky she didn't run dry!! Something to watch out for, that's for sure.

I've never heard of this problem before. And I have the K&N filter installed and a spare in my bag. I'll have to keep a closer eye on this now. Thanks!
