What's the correct tire pressure on a Metzler front tire? The owners manual says 30, but the Metzler isn't the stock tire of course. I "unwinterized" my bike after work last night, including checking tire pressures. The stock rear Metzler was 27, which was as expected; I pumped it up to 31. But the replacement Metzler on the front was 37.5. What's right up front?
Thanks for your help.

The thing is Jeff, you'll get people chiming in with different figures from each other. I figure there is no particular 'right' pressure. Try going by what's stamped on the tire and see how you like it (handling, comfort). Personally I try not to over inflate so as not to wear out the centre of the tire prematurely. Generally I run at about 32 lbs up front.

Check the tire mfg web site. There will be a suggestion on there. Then you'll need to factor in your weight. I ran the average 31/34 or however it came stock. After cupping a couple tires I ran a much higher pressure based on the dealer recommendation only to have it feel unstable. I now run about 35 rear and 31 up front.... Much closer to what I used to. Also keep in mind I'm a bit husky

That's it Jeff!
Don't run them flat, don't exceed the manufacturer (tire OR bike) rating.
Everything between is personal.

Just for the fun of it:
2005 Speedmaster owner's handbook, copyright 2004, part number 3853306, issue 1 - page 97
Front - Metzler ME33T: 30 lb solo 31 lb laden
Rear - Metzler ME880 Solo 31 lb Laden 36 lb
This manual shows the America at the same pressures
I usually run 36 & 36
What's stamped on the tire is usually the maximum pressure allowed, and not necessarily the manufacturer's recommended pressure.

That said, even thought the manual says one thing, there is a school of thought around here that a little higher is a lot better. I can't remember why, but those who posted the higher numbers seem to know a lot more about it than me, so I trust what they posted.

Yeah, well, here's one that runs 28 front & 30 rear. But I push mine REAL hard into the turns. (Mine also weighs less than everyone else)

Experiment, try different pressures, ride what feels best. There's a lot of factors at work here. Uncle Charlie
