Nah, I like my two ugly sisters just bloody fine, he can keep that uncomfortable looking thing until the price comes down about $6000.

Maybe that's why it's barely (barly) ridden!! 
Also, is it me or is the petcock, in one pic, pointing up to Reserve?

Lowered two inches, and extra unsprung weight on the forks (fat tire) looks uber cool, but I would for see handling limitations. And yea, the petcock is on reserve, Cali. gas prices and Joker Machine ate his bank account. The wife must be saying "Sell it boy, sell it"

Absolutely cool looking, but how functional, I bought a lowered (front and back) 05 Speedy from a member awhile back, now I live near some of the smoothest twistys in America and the only way I could get that sucker to corner properly and the suspension to not bottom out on the merest of road ripples was to raise the forks to 1/2 inch lowered, add Ricor s and buy some special order 12 inch Progressives for the rear and she still don't corner like my stock height Speedy will, just saying.

I hear ya, Ryk! I still don't understand why anybody takes these all-around, do-everything reasonably well, and probably the best handling cruisers on the market, and then basically turns 'em into "Bar Hoppers" by lowering them. Though, I suppose IF those folks live where there's no mountain roads and/or have another one or two or more other bikes in their garage that are for "ridin'", and not just to "look cool" on, then I suppose I can see the point....maybe! Okay, and maybe I can see the point of lowering these babies IF one is "short-of-inseam" and can't reach the ground flat-footed with both feet while stationary on 'em. I mean, in this case, Nick takes a Triumph cruiser, and then basically turns it into a large Thruxton-esque Cafe Racer with lowered handlebars and rear-set pegs, and THEN lowers the bike so that more hard parts will scrape the ground whenever he might actually use it as said Cafe Racer!!! (...I mean, don't get me wrong here, yeah, Nick's bike is "cool lookin'" alright, but why lower it, for chrissake???...oh yeah, 'cause it "looks cool" that way....riiiiiiiight!) 
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

well i'm of the inseam challenged group and would never consider lowering the bike. i still hit the pegs with it at stock height (could be because my girth lowers the bike a bit)

I hear what you are sayin Dwight and you are correct, however there is a quite a buzz to be had riding at a position close to the road. Sure it ruins the cornering ability, I get that and I would make sure I had another motorcycle in my stable to give me that but apart from looks alone it is fun to ride at a low ride height. Looking cool is just part of it.

I like the bike but I also know what they are worth.

Yeah, Americas sure do suck huh? Good thing his tastes "matured" and he tried turning it into a thruxton. It's a shame the poor guy had to start out with such an "awkward motorcycle". Hopefully he can sell it quick and get a real bike like a Sporster.

Well we have at least a few people here who have put standard Bonneville style tanks on their cruisers. Does the same apply to them? Remember, Nick never called it an awkward motorcycle. Don't ascribe the opinions of the author of that article on chopcult to the owner of the bike.

Well I don't think Nick's bike is fouled up, that's why I did the feature on it. It is what it is. And I knew he was thinking about selling it before that.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but once again I'm baffled by some of the reactions. Not every bike has to be a canyon carver or a long distance tourer. No one bike has to be anything. It can be sculpture on my mantle for all I care.

Stephen, I love it too! (GO FIGURE!) I'll bet he had a GREAT time building/changing it, I bet he had a GREAT time riding it, I bet he had a GREAT time talkin' about it, and I bet he had a GREAT time showin' it off. I BET it gave him an erecti-- that lasted WELL over four hours every time he got on it, and I bet he NEVER thought about callin' a doctor.  We should ALL be so lucky! You can't ask for anything more than being "totally happy" with your ride.  For all the haters out there, remember, somewhere, somebody thinks YOUR bike sucks.  (Or more politely, say it ain't their "cup of tea")

I am quite sure that my speedy is not everyones cup of tea either but I think it is the best bike I have ever owned period. I have transformed it into what suits me not the perfect bike for all applications but what I wanted. I am sure Nick feels the same about his creation and he is a little more talented than I.

i would agree that he had a good time building it and bragging about it...but i don't think he liked it. why would you sell it as soon as it's finished.
i wish i had the tallent to do more than bolt up stuff that someone else made.

I seem to remember reading that doesn't actually have a bike license, so why keep something you can't use when the space can be used for another project.

That's not what I'm saying. In fact I think the bike looks cool. I think the bonnie tank on our bikes looks cool too. I never said customizing in any way is a bad thing. My rant was actually directed towards the author on chopcult, who pretty much bashed the America for a paragraph or two before actually talking about the project itself. I just get sick of the elitist attitude I see so much of in other circles about our bikes. At the end of the day, I have my opinion, and they have theirs, and that's OK. I still love my America, the tarted up, homely, bland, awkward, tubby older sister that she is. I guess my tastes just haven't matured yet.
