 Not been out on her yet as the weather has been terrible, purchased off one of the lads with 3,000 miles on the clock. Just give it a little clean to keep on top of those wheels etc.

Got the T-bird, aye youll have to review it for us after you have had it a while. Looks good man.

Looks good Ray.Can't wait for you're riding impressions.It's kind of funny how when this bike first came out many gave it a thumbs down.I wonder if Triumph had named it Bonneville America or Speedmaster it would have been more accepted.

I think it was the lack of fins that put everyone off originally.
The look is starting to grow on me but I still don't like the tank.
The upgrade comment was just a jealous poke.

I still would not have liked it. It works for some people, but not for me. Good color though.

America is being took off the road and stripped in summer and will be used as a winter bike for both of us. The T-bird and T100 will be garaged.....

Nice T-Bird there, Ray! Ya know, what with that there windshield and them there saddlebags, I'll bet ridin' that baby long distances would be a snap...like maybe to Meteora Greece, for instance?!  (...you DO realize that you now have NO excuse anymore not to make one o' those Euro rallies, don't ya?!)

Dwight I would love to go on a Euro Rally, unfortunately just cannot justify spending the money for a long weekend (put in here tight barsteward). Maybe one year I will make a holiday of it and Bonnie could come....

Congratulations on your new ride Ray!
Understand she is a 1700 a noticable difference on the 1600 given my experience on the Storm (500 miles or so).

Cheers Ivan, them those wheels are taking a bit to get proper clean, but getting there. The bike rides great a little noisy on the cam in the first three gears but is as sweet as a nut.
Took Bonnie on the back tonight for the first time and she loves it. Very comfortable with the Gel seats....

The write upWell been out on her twice now, once on my own and once two up. The bike pulls like he11 as it should do for a 1700cc, but what is amazing is the torque coming from the 790 America to this beast. Does not seem to matter what gear you are in, it just pulls and pulls. Handling is a little weird, as I have caught my feet when I was solo more than once, maybe it is just getting used to it. Two up never caught them once, but was I taking it a little easier with Bonnie on the back (yes). Comfort, well it has gel seats on front and passenger, so comfort is very nice, what I do miss is my back rest off my corbin seat on the America, so will be making enquiries to Corbin to see if they do a gel seat. Overall  's for miles, great ride...

I had one for a few days last year during one of the (I forget just now which one!!) engine re-builds. I don't know if the dealer hadn't set it up properly but I was disappointed. Not much cop. Crap really when you consider it was their demo bike, you'd think they would have had it set up spot on. I guess as an intermediate bike working up to a full size bike, it's not too bad

This one is from Woburn, and seems alright, a little noisy on the cam but otherwise runs very well

I thought it had plenty of oomf, compared to an America. Not a ton, but "plenty." As I've written here before, not just unimpressed by the brakes, but at one point concerned that I was going to hit the bike in front of me on the demo ride. I think the phrase is "impending lockup." Also, "reefing on the brake lever."
Then I got on the Roadster. Gobs and gobs of power and comparatively stopped on a dime, gives you nine cents change. And cheaper than the bigbore/ABS. Sad if you think about it.

I agrre John the brakes are something to be desired, whether it has something to do with the ABS I don't know, but it does not want to pull up.
What I did try when I was riding alone was hitting the brakes as hard as I could and it did not lock up, but seem to take its time pulling up... Time will tell or will I just get used to it....

that's not difficult!
The only problem I could see with chopping in the R3 was that I would finish up constantly comparing everything to it.
The Sprint was whooosh quick but the R3 is plain grrrrrraaaaaahhhhhhhh quick
